
Ikea, the furniture store of Swedish origin, announced that on April 8 it will open its first store in the country in the Venustiano Carranza mayor's office, in Mexico City. .
The store will have an area of 23,500 square meters distributed over three floors.
Initially, it will store 5,300 items of the 7,300 of its total portfolio; around 250 were manufactured in Mexico, which will represent between 8 and 10% of its total sales.
The concept will have a restaurant with capacity for 655 people and a market to buy more than 150 products of Swedish origin: from meat balls and hot dogs, to vegetarian and vegan products.
In January, IKEA announced a second branch for the first half of 2022: Ikea Puebla, in the Vía San Ángel Shopping Center, with 11,500 square meters and a restaurant for 380 diners.
Ikea currently has an international portfolio of 422 stores in 50 countries.
The store will be located inside the Encuentro Oceanía shopping center, at number 355 Avenida del Peñón in the Moctezuma neighborhood, in the 2nd Section.
