Guadalajara and its technological potential in Mexico and Latin America

Guadalajara stands out as a technological cluster after years of remaining as a favorite destination for companies in the innovation and high technology sector.

Decades ago the term "Mexican Silicon Valley" was coined, and since then, much of its economic activity is related to the development of technology.

A technology cluster or hub refers to when a group of organizations within the same business or line of business is geographically concentrated. And Jalisco attracts more than 40% of the total ICT industry in Mexico.

More than 700 high-tech companies have been established in this city in the north of the country, among which are: Continental, IBM, Intel, HP, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Oracle, Flex, Sanmina, Foxconn, Tata and Igate.

Another relevant factor is that the private initiative has bet on progress in this area, reinforcing the offer in education, which translates into underpinning innovation.

The city has more than 12 universities, about 70 postgraduate programs and five specialized universities in ICT, which has generated a generation with extensive expertise on the subject.

The city also occupies the second national position in terms of the location of innovation centers in the country with the development of more than 30 startups, surpassing Monterrey.

Various private initiative events are committed to development in Guadalajara, which will soon host the REB + Summit Guadalajara, an exclusive congress of B2B Media and Inmobiliare that will take place on August 24 and 25, 2021.
