The Swiss company Georg Utz inaugurated the facilities of its plant on a plot of land that measures 4 hectares on which the first phase will be located with a plant of 9 thousand square meters, located in the San Miguel de Allende Business Park, in Guanajuato.

According to the manager, this inauguration is a first phase, since they have the possibility of carrying out two more expansions in this location.

The company is dedicated to the manufacture of returnable plastic packaging solutions for different industries. In an interview, Armando Robles, general manager of the Georg Utz Mexico plant, said that an investment of just over 20 million dollars was allocated for this new facility and that currently 40 people work full time.

"Right now we have processes for plastic injection, thermoforming, design and manufacturing of returnable plastic packaging."

Georg Utz Mexico had a smaller warehouse within this same industrial park; however, in order to meet the growing demand of its customers in Germany, Switzerland and the United States, and provide them with a better service, the products will be supplied from Mexico.

At our first location, we processed around 200 tons; here we will do 20 or 30 times more the first year, to serve clients such as VW, Bosch, Continental, Valeo, among others from the automotive industry, and others in the retail, pharmaceutical and logistics sectors, revealed the manager.

On the other hand, he stated that, with the completion of this new building and the creation of a modern and future-oriented work environment, they will also create optimal conditions for the hiring of new employees.

The president said that the decision to invest in Mexico was based on the confidence of the region, the growth of strategic sectors and the large number of potential clients.

With the plant in Mexico, the Utz Group has a total of eight production sites with expertise in thermoforming and injection molding, and a strong position throughout the North American market.
