GE installs new laboratories in Querétaro for the aerospace sector

General Electric (GE) will install two new laboratories in Querétaro: one for the diagnosis of aircraft engines and another specialized in the development of sustainable fuel.

The firm, which in the entity has General Electric Infrastructure Querétaro (GEIQ), raised these projects within the framework of the tour that state public servants carried out last week in Europe, explained the Secretary of Sustainable Development (Sedesu), Marco Antonio Del Third Price.

The unit for engines, he said, is extremely relevant, because currently all aircraft engines must go through a series of evaluations and indicators.

"And a topic that is at the forefront is a laboratory for the development of sustainable fuel, which is currently taking on great importance given the importance of caring for the environment and decarbonization that the aerospace industry is seeking," he said.

Through the GEIQ, he said, the company develops aircraft engines, in addition to designing turbo propellers for wind power; in the center the firm plans to incorporate 135 jobs.

In this context, state officials gave a balance after the tour of Europe, which took place from July 18 to 22.

The entity, together with the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (Femia), had a stand at the meeting of the aerospace industry in Farnborough (Farnborough International Airshow), in the United Kingdom.

During the tour, 84 business meetings were held, with companies installed in the entity and others with an interest in arriving. In addition to diplomatic and business meetings.

Among the expansion projects is that of Safran, the plans of Airbus and the investment of

TechOps, the largest aircraft maintenance workshop in Mexico.

In turn, Testia announced that it will install a non-destructive testing laboratory at the National Aeronautical University in Querétaro (UNAQ), while Michelin, dedicated to the manufacture of tires, proposes new projects, as well as the aerospace firms ITP Aero and Aernnova. 

Creating a program for the development of local suppliers is one of the agreements reached by the state administration and the companies that have plans in the entity, after the tour of the Querétaro entourage in Europe, announced the governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González .

At the end of June, 29 investment projects were completed in the entity, for more than 12,463 million pesos and that imply the creation of 7,100 jobs.
