Slows the advance of the increase in prices of construction materials in September

The price of construction materials moderated its rise during the month of September 2022, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

Through the National Producer Price Index (INPP), the agency shared that increases of up to 13.17 percent were recorded for 20 consecutive months, although the construction materials sub-index slowed its progress in August 2022 compared to the period of the year previous, falling 0.97% in September of this year.

Regarding the machinery and equipment rental subindex, this had a growth during last September of 5.64% in its annual measurement.

In turn, the remuneration sub-indicator in the construction sector presented an advance of 6.95% compared to the same period in 2021.

Although almost all construction materials maintained a constant growth in their prices, products derived from wire saw a decrease compared to what was presented in recent months.

According to the indicator, the price of wire showed an increased variation from 7.27 to 9.26% at the end of 3Q2022 compared to 2021. However, it fell 2.28% last September compared to the previous month.

The annual variations that each product derived from the wire had were: rod 11.61%, wire and rod 4.67%, armed castles 3.68%, steel mesh 3.62%.

Regarding the general INPP, it decreased in September 0.34% at the monthly rate and increased 8.63% at the annual rate.

At a monthly rate and by groups of economic activities, the prices of primary activities rose 0.51%, those of tertiary activities, 0.53%, and those of secondary activities fell 0.83 percent.
