Fifteen companies that manufacture parts for airplanes, aircraft and helicopters from the United States and Europe seek to expand their operations in Mexico or reach the country to invest in production lines in the face of the nearshoring phenomenon, according to Luis Lizcano, executive president of the Mexican Federation. of the Aerospace Industry (Femia).

"There are companies that are considering and are doing their due diligence and site selection study to stay in Mexico," said the manager at the end of the presentation of the International Technology and Manufacturing Fair (FITMA), which will take place from 20 to 22 June 2023 at the Citibanamex Center in Mexico City.

"Right now in the pipeline we must have more or less 12 or 15 projects of different sizes and colors, more or less, to stay in Mexico, coming from North America or Europe," he said.

Planemakers have not said how much they will invest in each project, as capital amounts always change when they do investment analysis, he added. The business representative said that none of the aircraft manufacturers is of Chinese origin, since the aerospace industry takes great care of national security.

Lizcano highlighted that Mexico has proven experience in the automotive and aerospace industry.

He added that he likes to make a comparison with the automotive industry, whose supply chain has significant maturity in Mexico.
