Generate expectations, bridge loan for housing in Mexico

According to the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM), the mortgage market presented a contraction in the number of loans of -3.9% and in the amount granted of -0.1% as of January 2021.

In contrast, commercial banking has shown positive growth in terms of the amount granted, going from 12.9 billion in January 2020 to 13.8 billion in January 2021.

With figures as of February 2021, loans for the construction of housing participated with 78.1% of the total bridge loans and the remaining 21.9% corresponded to loans for the construction of commercial buildings and services.

"Consumer credit and business credit maintained their downward trend in the first two months of 2021, while housing credit managed to show growth," said Rodrigo Padilla Quiroz, General Director of Banco Inmobiliario Mexicano (BIM ).
