The National Housing Survey (ENVI) 2020 confirms the diagnosis that the administration of President López Obrador made in the sense that the institute should diversify its financing to meet needs not covered in improvements, extensions or construction on its own land.

Within the framework of the presentation of the ENVI results released today by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Martínez Velázquez, the General Director of Infonavit, stressed that families can now restructure their mortgages.

The benefit is that families can free up income for other goods and services, and so that people who wanted it could pool their savings in housing to buy a better one and could remodel their house or build on their own land.

Hence, he announced that Infonavit and the Ministry of Economy (SE) are working to issue NOM247 on the sale of real estate for housing.

The government, through the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu) and all the housing institutions, is taking care of the environment in which they live, just look at the works of the Urban Improvement Program that include regularization actions of land tenure.

The change came from the reform that allows the possibility that families can acquire land and have a subsequent loan to build a house, that they can finance the self-production of housing and improvement with resources from the fund and the action of Infonavit was expanded by including as a credit subject all those who are the holder of deposits with the institute.

Regarding workers not affiliated with Infonavit, one of the virtues of the reform to the Institute's Law is that it allows all those who have deposits with it to lend.

The National Housing Survey makes it clear that there is a great challenge of financial inclusion in the country and the vast majority of Mexicans prefer to get their home with their own resources, when the financial system could ease this expense and accelerate the acquisition or construction.
