In 2022, Infonavit and GCDMX will facilitate access to housing

The Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit) and the Government of Mexico City signed a collaboration agreement to facilitate access to housing.

This agreement aims to streamline the different procedures in the housing sector as well as the application of discounts on duty and / or tax payments.

According to the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, this agreement consists of three types of loans.

The first contemplates a private investment to promote the construction of social housing; the second is aimed at improving housing units built by Infonavit; and the third is a joint program with the Mexico City Housing Institute (INVI) which seeks to support the beneficiaries to expand or improve their homes.

Likewise, Sheinbaum indicated that facilities will be given to deed properties that are in the name of Infonavit, but in which there are housing settlements, with the aim of regularizing those homes.

In this regard, the general director of Infonavit, Carlos Martínez, indicated that the institute has contemplated 35 thousand housing actions in the capital, in which they will offer housing improvement and self-production schemes, and did not rule out that the relationship can be strengthened with the INVI to develop a program that facilitates access to housing jointly.
