Infonavit's housing subaccount increased by 11% per year

According to Infonavit, the balance of the Housing Sub-Account of more than 72 million Mexicans reached 1.49 billion pesos.

This represented an increase of 11% in one year, derived from the return that the institute granted to the right holders on the money they save.

Said savings are made up of the bimonthly contributions of the employers of each worker, equivalent to 5% of their base contribution salary.

The Institute estimated that from 2018 to 2020, the average performance of the Sub-Account was 6.56 percent.

The figures produced guarantee workers access to a home and protection of the purchasing power of their savings.

On the other hand, the number of workers who have registered with Infonavit, with a sub account, also grew.

In October 2020, 69.12 million workers were counted and during the same month of 2021 it reached 72.17 million, which represents an increase of 4 percent.

The increase in housing subaccounts is mainly associated with compliance with the payment of employer contributions, the recovery of employment in the country and the greater economic dynamism.

Finally, the agency indicated that article 39 of the Infonavit Law ensures a minimum return equivalent to inflation. In addition, an additional performance that reflects its good administration.
