A total of 20 Dutch companies decided to leave China to invest in Querétaro due to nearshoring, revealed Steven Büter, general manager of the Business Office of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Mexico.

According to the official, the construction of factories, plants and production lines is sought, as well as taking advantage of the manufacturing strength of the Bajío. "Many companies with Dutch capital want to leave Asia and are seeing if they can go to Mexico and other countries," he explained.

During the presentation of the third edition of GreenTech Americas, Büter mentioned the interest of international firms in the Mexican territory, due in large part to the nearshoring caused by its proximity to the United States (USA).

Among the advantages that companies will have with this relocation will be to comply with the new rules of the Mexico, USA, Canada Treaty (TMEC). Likewise, they will reduce the high prices of merchandise transport to United States territory and will stop depending on the maritime industry.

At this moment, there are more than 75 companies from the Netherlands with investments in Querétaro and it is estimated that nearshoring attracts more.

The 20 companies indicated that are interested in investing in Mexico and settling in the Bajío are from the manufacturing, retail, agribusiness and service sectors. To this, the embassy manager added that there is the possibility of opening corporate offices in Mexico City for corporate functions.

According to a Forbes study, the Dutch companies with the largest investments in the Mexican Republic are Heineken, Shell and Unilever. These have invested more than 20 thousand 407 million dollars in the country, according to the Ministry of Economy (SE), in a period from 1999 to 4T2022.
