The peso breaks the floor of 17 pesos per dollar

In today's session, the Mexican currency broke the floor of 17.00 pesos per dollar, for the first time since 2015, for the first time in more than seven and a half years.

Projections indicate that the exchange rate could reach 16.74 this year.

Given this scenario, the question arises as to whether it is a good time to buy dollars. The Mexican currency was trading at 16.9890 per dollar, with a gain of 0.39% compared to Tuesday's closing price registered by the Bank of Mexico.

"The exchange rate in Mexico continues to drop. If it continues with the same pattern observed since July of last year, it could reach 16.74 pesos per dollar this year," said the director of Economic Analysis at Grupo Financiero BASE, Gabriela Siller.

In recent months, the Mexican peso has appreciated and has become the second strongest currency in Latin America; however, this has advantages and disadvantages.
