The automotive hub of the Valley of Mexico

Hidalgo Intermodal Logistics Terminal (TILH), belonging to the Hutchison Ports group, was created as a logistics arm to serve the company's port operation, with the objective of receiving containerized cargo and project cargo through Verex door-to-door services, Lazex and Manex.

In addition, it was configured to serve the three main railways that connect the Valley of Mexico, from the ports of Manzanillo with Ferromex, Lázaro Cárdenas with Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) and Veracruz with Ferrosur.

However, this infrastructure has now also become the automotive hub of the Valley of Mexico.

In December 2022, the TILH successfully carried out the first container deconsolidation tests with 300 cars and by March of this year the automotive railway equipment was received.

With these operations, the automotive industry boom began for this hub after the arrival of Chinese, Japanese and American brands.

Gabriel Antonio Vallejos, Operations Manager of the TILH, attributes this growth to the fact that it has an unbeatable geographical position, since it is located just 60 kilometers from the center of the Valley of Mexico, allowing several automotive brands to consider the terminal as a strategic point to distribute its units. “The Hutchison Ports Group has always opted to invest strategically and TILH is no exception,” he says.

This automotive boom generated that the terminal will make a significant investment to condition all areas to satisfactorily operate the increases in container and automobile volumes, which included infrastructure works and development of new technologies.
