Fibra Uno (FUNO), the first real estate investment trust, predicted that the e-commerce business would take between 15 to 20 years to have a strong expansion in Mexico, however, the pandemic accelerated its growth.

"We saw that this transition to electronic commerce would perhaps take 15 or 20 years to occur and at a much slower speed than it did, but it accelerated with the pandemic and forced people to buy online," explained Jorge Pigeon, vice president of Capital Markets and Investor Relations at FUNO.

He added that before the health contingency, it was not the vocation of the Mexican culturally, to make their purchases through a tablet, computer, telephone or other digital means, they traditionally go to stores.

"We knew that electronic commerce was going to imply growth in demand in logistics for industrial buildings, because one of the things we do is logistics," he added.
