2024 represents a boom for the automotive industry

Grupo Mexico Transportes (GMXT), a division of Grupo México, presented a proposal for the rail connection for Tesla, an automotive company, while at its terminal at the Ferrovalle facilities it has registered growth in the handling of cars mainly of Asian origin.

It is worth remembering that at the end of 2023, GMXT reported a 38% growth in its revenue from the automotive segment compared to the same period but in 2022, in the same way a 15% growth in loaded cars, which stood out in an increase of 17% in ton-kilometers handled year-on-year.

Jose Miguel Baena, Commercial Director of GMXT, mentioned that 60% of the cars are for the CDMX market and its metropolitan area, when arriving in Mazatlán there is greater efficiency and flexibility, given that the port of Lazaro Cardenas is no longer The excessive commercial charge is enough.

Currently GMXT has four automotive terminals in the country; Monterrey, Guadalajara, Hermosillo and Valley of Mexico.

It was added that for this year, greater growth is expected in the cross-border service, in 2023 alone it was 400%, with a sale of 200 thousand containers due to the addition of imports from General Motors and Stellantis, among others.
