Circular Economy, initiative to promote the economic recovery of Querétaro

Querétaro has sought to promote the economic recovery of the state through various projects; An example of this is the implementation of the Circular Economy System, which seeks to strengthen the capacities of institutions and companies through the formulation of initiatives in the matter.

So far, the initiative has generated economic benefits of 87.2 million pesos, as well as the reduction of 4,179 tons of CO2 emissions.

Faced with the post-pandemic crisis, Marco Antonio Del Prete, head of the Secretariat for Sustainable Development, Sedesu, commented that the organization identified the circular economy as a new logic that redefines the productive and consumption systems to maintain the value of materials and resources in the economy.

The summoned companies designed 42 projects with results that involve investments of 33.9 million pesos and generate economic benefits with a net value of 87.2 million pesos.

In addition, it was emphasized that the benefits accumulate the use and recovery of 1,092 tons of waste per year, the reduction of emissions of 4,179 tons of CO2 eq / year, which is equivalent to removing 566 cars from circulation per year; as well as the recirculation of 50,457 m3 of water, comparable with the annual consumption of 749 people.

The project has made it possible to round out the mission of Sedesu, since to start it they worked together with the Undersecretariat of the Environment; so he added: "with the knowledge of both areas we generate well-defined mechanisms for a competitive, productive, innovative and circular Querétaro."

For his part, the president of the Querétaro Automotive Cluster, Renato Villaseñor highlighted the need to promote a sustainability agenda, and commented that this project has helped streamline processes and find profitability with a sustainable approach.

The project has allowed them to analyze the resources in the value chains and how these chains are formed by customers and suppliers together, in integration with the environment.
