Deputies endorse reforms to housing law to provide transparency
Centro Urbano/ Solili | May 04, 2021 |

With a unanimity of 441 votes, the Chamber of Deputies approved the amendment to article 3 of the Housing Law. This opinion establishes that the policies and programs, as well as the instruments and supports for housing, will be governed by the principles of respect for legality, transparency and accountability.

The project also aims to grant legal protection to legitimate tenure, which will prevent the invasion of properties and the irregular growth of urban settlements.

The document, sent to the Senate of the Republic for its constitutional purposes, indicates that the principle of transparency consists in respecting and safeguarding the publicity of the acts, resolutions, procedures and documents of the administration, as well as that of its foundations.

Likewise, it is established that the principle of transparency must facilitate the access of any person to the information, through the legally established means and procedures.

Regarding the principle of accountability, the opinion indicates that it consists of the duty of public servants to publicly inform and justify their actions and the use given to the funds assigned; in addition to the results obtained.
