Construction slows down, but exceeds 2020

After the construction industry registered its highest month since the beginning of 2020, it again had a drop in production value of 2.2% in October, indicates the National Survey of Construction Companies (ENEC).

However, the figures are already positive compared to the previous year, which, although it was the one with the lowest values for the industry, in October work activities had already resumed. In this annual comparison, the indicator is 5.1% higher.

In the tenth month of the year, employed personnel registered a decrease of 0.3%, mainly due to personnel not dependent on company name, which registered a fall of 1.9%.

Consequently, the hours worked had a decrease of 0.4%, although the remuneration remained unchanged.

During October, the branch that contributed the most was that of specialized works for construction (economic units dedicated to specialized works, which are supplied before, during and after construction, such as foundations, assembly of prefabricated structures) with 17.4 of the total production value, leaving behind construction by 4.9 and civil engineering works (infrastructure) by 2.8.

The State of Mexico was once again positioned as the entity that contributed the most to the industry, with 14.5 points of the total, since the construction of the Santa Lucía airport was carried out in the demarcation. In second place was Nuevo León with 10.8.
