The housing industry enters the second half of the year with a positive outlook, showing an upward trend in housing production, which registered a growth of 13.2% between January and July 2021.

These statements were issued by the president of Canadevi, Gonzalo Méndez, during the inauguration of the "Canadevi Forum 2021: Knowing our sources of financing",

According to Inegi, the housing industry is the sector that generates the most jobs, with 2.5 million jobs and has demonstrated resilience to the impacts of the pandemic.

On the other hand, Alejandro Vargas, vice president of Financing at Canadevi, recalled that the goal for 2021 is to develop 250 thousand homes. Despite being cautious, he considers that the conditions exist to close the year with positive numbers for the sector.

One of the pending challenges is to promote affordable housing, where the increase in construction costs has impacted the production of housing in this segment.

The most lagging part corresponds to the production of social housing. Meanwhile, the middle and residential housing segments continue to be very dynamic, and this is what has sustained the industry.

From Canadevi, a positive environment is expected for the sector in the second half of the year. The sector is expected to maintain this positive vision and position itself as a key player in the recovery.
