The Mexican economy grew by 1.5% in the second quarter of the year

The recovery of the agricultural sector, growth in services, and the momentum in consumption and tourism—driven by the country hosting the World Cup—boosted economic activity during the second quarter. The GDP result for the April–June period marks the largest increase since 2020 and a surprising recovery following the 0.6% contraction recorded in the first three months of 2026.

A breakdown of the quarterly figures shows positive results across the board: primary activities grew by 3.3%; the secondary sector (encompassing industry and manufacturing) rose by 1.6%; and tertiary activities (services) increased by 1.5%. On an annual basis, Mexican GDP posted a 2.1% increase.

The Mexican economy operated with excess demand, fueled by liquidity from government transfers to households, increased spending on social programs, and a double-digit rise in the minimum wage.
