Industrial production in Mexico grew by 3.2% from January to November 2022 driven by the generation and supply of energy, according to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), in its Monthly Indicator of Industrial Activity (IMAI). for the penultimate month of 2022.

It should be noted that this increase was the result of the interannual rise in the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy and water and gas supply with 5.2%; manufacturing industries with 4.6% and 1.8% in construction. While in contrast, mining fell 0.5%.

In this regard, industrial activity remained unchanged last November compared to the previous month, according to seasonally adjusted figures.

This was the result of monthly increases in construction (0.7%) and in the generation of electricity and water supply and gas (0.4%), accompanied by falls of 0.5% in mining and manufacturing.

The figures are a reflection of the behavior of the Mexican economy, which grew 0.9% quarterly and 4.3% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2022, with which it accumulates an annual increase of 2.9% in the first 3 quarters of the year.

In 2021, industrial production rebounded by 6.5% compared to 2020, when there was a 10% drop due to the Covid-19 pandemic, adding to the 1.8% decline in 2019.

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew 4.8% in 2021, below the Government's expectations of 6%, after contracting 8.2% in 2020. And by 2022, it is estimated that the Mexican economy will grow around 4% .
