The construction sector ranked as the third largest generator of employment in Mexico at the end of last August, with 5.3 percent, preceded by the transportation and communications sector, which together accounted for 8.6 percent in the creation of labor sources, reported the Mexican Institute Social Security (IMSS).

He indicated that the entities where a greater number of jobs were generated are Baja California Sur, Tabasco and Quintana Roo with annual increases above 10.5 percent in positions affiliated with the Institute and that, in total, at the end of the eighth month of 2022 , registered 21,236,866, of these; 86.7 are permanent and 13.3 percent temporary.

The IMSS specified that, with this figure, a monthly increase of 157,432 jobs was registered in August, which is equivalent to a monthly rate of 0.7 percent.

“This monthly increase is the highest for an August since there is a record. With the above, the creation of employment from January to August is 616,718 positions, of which 76.2 percent corresponds to permanent jobs”, he indicated.

He added that, in the last twelve months, a creation of 816,043 jobs has been observed, equivalent to an annual rate of 4 percent, which represents the fourth highest number of job creation, considering comparable periods since then.

The Institute mentioned that, in the reported period, one million 67 thousand 486 employers have been registered, which in its annual comparison represents a rate of 2.8 percent. With this data, the monthly increase in August is 2,699 patterns.

In his report, he indicated that additionally, the IMSS provides social security to 7.9 million people in other forms of employment.

 As of August 31, 2022, 7,403,409 people affiliated with the Optional Insurance have the Institute's medical services, while 189,313 affiliates with the Family Health Insurance are registered, through which medical care is provided to people who join voluntarily.

Thus, in the scheme of voluntary continuation of the mandatory regime, there is a total of 258,619 insured.
