Construction of industrial buildings in northern Mexico increased by 13%

According to the real estate platform Solili, the northern region of the country has shown a 13% increase in the construction of industrial buildings, compared to 2022. In this way, the border cities concentrate 70% of the almost 2.9 million square meters (m²) of these new spaces that began work this year.

Similarly, the information platform indicated that at the end of the second quarter (2Q) of the year, the locations that presented the increase in construction were Mexicali, Tecate, Tijuana, Chihuahua and Saltillo.

Together these cities present 1,976,000 m² of new industrial buildings under construction; while other regions have modest performances, for example, the bajio presents reaches 420,000 m² of construction.

Likewise, Solili indicated that of the total m² under construction in the north of the country, there are four markets that take the lead, as is the case of Monterrey, Tijuana, Ciudad Juárez and Saltillo, which house 780,000, 341,000, 267,000 and 225,000 m². of industrial buildings, respectively.

In this regard, the company carried out an analysis of the total constructions completed in the country and came to the conclusion that, for the 2Q, this index exceeds 5.6 million m²; This figure represents a growth of 10% more than last year. Of this total, 68% is in the northern region.

On the other hand, industrial inventories also presented growth, in the case of the note, the border market reached 6.9% more than last year; while the average increase in the country presented 6.2%; besides that Monterrey was positioned in the first place of growth with an annual rate of 9.6 percent.
