The Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United Mexican States (CONCAMIN) installed the Commission of Smart Cities (Smart Cities) in order to promote innovative infrastructure projects in cities that are in industrial growth and that have an impact on the quality of life of the population.

“The objective is none other than to have world-class smart cities in our country. To initiate this radical change in the execution of government projects in favor of the industry and its inhabitants, it is necessary to configure them to direct them towards the development of smart cities ”, commented Francisco Cervantes Díaz, President of CONCAMIN.

"Our goal will be to establish standards of success for the delivery of projects that improve the quality of life of citizens and equal those of the best industries and governments around the world," he added.

Marco Gutiérrez, president of the Smart Cities Commission explained that the new CONCAMIN body will begin its activities with five strategies:

Promote the coverage of the services of the new information and communication technologies.

Contribute to the competitiveness of cities by digitizing the services and assistance of local authorities.

Contribute to the efficiency of cities with quality and sustainable public transport.

Contribute to the generation of wealth by strengthening security and monitoring systems.

Consolidate the infrastructure of the water and energy network as detonators of the development of key cities for industry and the population.

For his part, Manuel Pérez Cárdenas, Head of the Office of the Presidency of CONCAMIN, added that this effort joins others such as the creation of the Industry 4.0 Commission and the development of 10 Innovation Centers on the campus of the Technological Institute of Mexico in the whole country.
