Chiapas has a project for an ecotourism neighborhood

Lucila Aguilar Arquitectos presented the design of the Ixua project, Barrio Palenque, which will be an ecotourism and sustainable community located in the middle of the Palenque jungle, Chiapas; and it will be built from bamboo.

The purpose of the neighborhood is to verify that it can be built with a renewable material and without a carbon footprint; in addition to how architecture and nature can coexist with doors to the future.

In addition, Ixua will be located just a five-minute walk from the Mayan Train station in Palenque; Therefore, it is sought that its development is on par with the Federal Government's project.

The neighborhood will have an amphitheater covered with a huge bamboo dome that will protect visitors from the sun. Pedagogical presentations, local art exhibitions and other outdoor cultural events will take place here.

Similarly, the community will have a pedestrian path for commercial activities, where local artisans will be able to sell their products. As well as a market with stalls where merchants can offer food from their crops and other items.

In this area, there will also be a butterfly farm and a viewpoint with a view of the entire jungle to appreciate the tropical birds that inhabit the region.

Likewise, Ixua, Barrio Palenque will have two sustainable hotels. One of them conformed by constructions in the form of cocoons suspended on the trees; and the other will be a much more familiar and safe accommodation for children.
