Value chain of new technologies is promoted in Tijuana
Mexico Industry | January 18, 2022 |

The Association of Industrialists of the Otay Table (AIMO) foresees in 2022 giving impetus to fourth generation technologies so that they are chained as suppliers to large industries, as well as promoting incentives to attract new investments.

Armando Padilla Fitch, president of the AIMO, reported that during 2021 the companies in the region registered a high demand from the global market, for which the manufacturing sector managed to mitigate the ravages of the pandemic.

Although industries such as the automotive industry have been affected by the lack of electronic chips, he pointed out, binational coordination will be key to alleviate this situation, which is expected to last another six months.

Hence, the industrialists have observed niches of opportunity in the robotization and machining of processes, as is the case of metal forming, as well as the enhancement of teams where many of the affiliated companies are linked, and which are in the areas of greatest consumption both in Baja California and throughout Mexico.

Growth is subject to the approach of companies that make up the fourth generation value chain, Padilla Fitch commented. From this, local and national capital providers will be encouraged to increase their degree of participation in the industry.

"In the Industrial City of Otay there is one of the largest concentrations in terms of industrial chaining, where the electronics and plastics sectors are pillars of the medical and aerospace products sector," he stressed.

In addition, the leader noted that many Chinese companies are seeking to settle near the North American market, after supply problems, so Tijuana and Mexico, in general, have a great opportunity to attract new investments.

Therefore, development companies have strong growth plans in industrial parks, precisely observing the demand for spaces that has been generated.

On the other hand, the AIMO has on the agenda to propose to the municipal and state authorities to make adjustments in terms of regulatory improvement, the local productive chain and the improvement of infrastructure for businesses in this area.
