BorgWarner, Tier 1 leader in mobility solutions, laid the first stone of its new plant in San Luis Potosí, which will be located in the WTC 2 Industrial Park, in the municipality of Villa de Reyes.

The company that invested 198 million dollars for the plant chose San Luis Potosí as a strategic location to support responsible actions as a key player in the supply chain of the industry in Mexico and the world, thanks to the fact that it has been operating for more than eight years in the state.

Stefan Demmerle, BorgWarner Global President, shared the company's pivotal role in transforming the automotive industry towards clean and safe mobility, given the importance of a sustainable supply chain and BorgWarner's contribution to achieving carbon neutrality for 2035.

Juan Carlos Valladares, Secretary of Economic Development of San Luis Potosí, highlighted the solid infrastructure and highly qualified workforce of San Luis Potosí, as well as the research centers that support the field of electromobility.

The new BorgWarner plant in San Luis Potosí covers 27,000 square meters of the 64,000 square meters of land where the plant will be located and will focus on the manufacture of electric motors, power electronic components and electronic circuits for electric vehicles, including models such as the Ford E-Transit and the Mustang Mach-E and is expected to start operations in the second quarter of 2024.

BorgWarner has a manufacturing plant in San Luis Potosí, located in the Tres Naciones phase 1 industrial park, which is 100% dedicated to the assembly of integrated electric drive units (iDM) for global OEM clients, as well as components for eMotors. The current production is destined for both the national and international markets.
