AMPI Aguascalientes foresees recovery of the real estate sector

The real estate sector in Mexico has recovered in the first quarter of 2021, thanks to investors and developers who have begun to bet on new projects. Despite starting activities with uncertainty, in the middle of the year and in a context of relative normality, sales in this sector were improving.

Recall that last year was not the best for the sale of real estate, at the beginning of 2019, the Covid-19 pandemic caused a large part of the activity to stop, registering a fall of more than 20% during the first months.

Mario Alberto Álvarez Michaus, president of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI), commented: “We have seen our real estate exchanges and how more and more people are requesting to establish themselves, both commercially and industrially, however, We are still not close to the levels we had in the year prior to the pandemic, but we are making progress ”.

We recommend: Housing production will grow 19.8% by 2021

Since January 2021, Álvarez Michaus assumed the presidency of the AMPI Aguascalientes and will remain in this position until December 2022, in addition, his management challenge was to grow from 40 to 80 partners before ending his term.

Regarding the sale of homes, he pointed out that there have been no declines in the sale of homes and that the increase in sales has been constant compared to last year.

He also stressed that the number of commercial leases is increasing, as he believed that, despite the restrictions and adversities in the Mexican economy, there are more and more people who want to start, reactivate the business that they had previously or expand it, he commented.

In an interview with Business Leader, Álvarez Michaus spoke about the Law that Regulates the Activities of Real Estate Agents of the State of Aguascalientes, approved in 2016 but without regulation, since the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDEC) has not issued it. However, Álvarez Michaus indicated, the head of the state agency has already cited the real estate sector to formulate the proposals.

On the other hand, the Mexican Real Estate Bank (BIM) estimated that by 2021 there will be a national production of 181 thousand 351 homes, thus representing a 19.8 percent growth compared to 2020. Another sector that has seen growth in Aguascalientes was the industrial one, continued within the preference of foreign capital to invest, along with its neighbor San Luis Potosí. Solili, the technological and industrial platform, published that the amounts of demand in this area were driven by Asian and North American investments with tailor-made projects in the robotics and automation area.
