AMIF opening offices in the World Trade Center in Monterrey
Mexico Industry | July 22, 2021 |

The photovoltaic industry worldwide and in Mexico specifically has a wide development opportunity, based on its modular capacity for growth that allows it to serve from generation for injection into the grid to the design of solutions for the self-consumption industry.

In view of this potential, the Mexican Association of the Photovoltaic Industry (AMIF) has among its objectives for 2021 and 2022 the opening of institutional offices in four parts of the country: in the north, in the center, in the Bajío and in the South of the country.

Monterrey in Nuevo León was selected by the agency as the first city where it opened new offices. The city has good solar irradiation which makes it a good site for photovoltaic technology.

At the same time, Nuevo León has a favorable environment for activity since it has a robust and professional technological and business ecosystem.

Two elements, such as the consumption of solar energy as well as the number of companies in the photovoltaic industry that operate, were considered at the time of selection.

Another relevant element pointed out by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) is that Nuevo León has remained in second place, both in interconnection contracts and in installed power.

Of the 4 thousand photovoltaic installation companies estimated to exist in the country, there are approximately 500 of them in the city.

The AMIF office in Monterrey will work in the facilities of the Monterrey World Trade Center and the Center for Business Incubation and Technology Transfer (CIETT) of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León.

In the immediate future, an important growth of the photovoltaic energy sector in Mexico is expected, this being a productive, indigenous, sustainable, modular and economical generation modality when compared with other sources.
