The end of year season puts all companies to the test. A company like the giant Amazon is ready to face the high demand in the last quarter of the year, strengthening its operation by hiring more associates.

Amazon's logistics muscle, which since it arrived in 2015 has invested more than 52 billion pesos in the country, allows items to be delivered the same day in 10 different cities, the next day in 80 cities and two days later throughout the country. .

Jesús Elizondo, regional director of shipping centers, explained that Amazon's workforce in Mexico is eight thousand employees, but for the high season they hire 3,500 extras to be able to continue shipping and carrying the items with the same delivery promise.

The logistics infrastructure of the American company in Mexico has 11 fulfillment centers, of which five are located in the State of Mexico; three sorting centers and 27 delivery stations.

An example of these infrastructures is MEX3, a fulfillment center dedicated to non-disposable items (large dimensions) that opened its doors to see the 100 thousand square meters (m2) that store two million of the 450 million items sold by Amazon.

This complex, the company's largest in Latin America, has 25 receiving platforms, where palletized items arrive and are taken to the 14 receiving lines to be classified and taken to the racks.

At this point, the storage area stows the products on the racks with a random standard, a strategic method to facilitate the collection of the pickers.

Subsequently, the outbound area begins its work. The order picker receives orders to collect the products around the warehouse to take them to the packaging area, where the items are packed and, if necessary, combine them with the other items that the customer has requested.

Finally, the packages are taken to the dispatch platforms, where depending on the destination, they are taken to the trucks, either on pallets or in bulk.
