Bloomberg | September 26, 2022 |

We recognize a sustainable building when they are capable of minimizing energy consumption and guarantee efficient water consumption along with other indicators that allow them to be key pieces for a harmonious urban development that can support the fight against climate change. There are several buildings in the main Mexican capitals that belong to this group and we will get to know 5 of them.

The first Torre Mayor today presents multiple recognitions for its good practices that include LEED and ESR certifications. This building currently receives more than 2,000 visitors and is developed with a net profitable area of 77 square meters in typical floors of 1,700 square meters on 55 levels.

The second Mitikah Tower building, 176 meters high, has rainwater collection and use systems. It also supports bicycle travel and has 80 locations for this means of transport, within an urban plan that complements it with trees, green areas and pollinating gardens.

Reforma Latino, the third building, also has LEED certification in its gold category and has 2,500 meters of green areas including vertical gardens that improve air quality and interior temperature. Its glass facade combined with a reflective metal cover allows you to control the thermal indicators inside. It also has a bicycle station favoring its use for transfers to the tower.

Midtown Jalisco in Guadalajara, located on the New Financial Zone submarket, has a net profitable area of 27,000 square meters with typical floor plans of 1,142 square meters with 29 levels, with the presence of thermoacoustic facades. This building also encourages the use of bicycle transfers and has preferential parking spaces assigned to efficient and low-emission vehicles.

Finally, another mixed-use building located in Santa Fe that stands out as a sustainable building is Samara Shops, which includes 4 buildings for corporate use that use natural light complemented by a diversity of flora in internal spaces. More than 10 million people visit its facilities that are also combined with commercial use.

These five examples are just a sample of the extensive development in sustainable buildings that our country exhibits and that will increase, mainly because the applicants are becoming increasingly aware of the profitability that accompanies the element of sustainability for users and the environment in general.
