AMPIP estimates 25 new industrial parks during the rest of 2022

At least 25 new industrial parks is the estimate of new projects in the remainder of 2022 by the Mexican Association of Private Industrial Parks (AMPIP) with an investment of around two thousand 500 million dollars.

It is about generating more or less six million square meters of construction and 107 thousand new direct jobs, informed the president of the Association, Sergio Argüelles González during the Third Meeting of Partners 2022 in Monterrey.

Regarding nearshoring, Sergio Argüelles pointed out that during the first half of the year, the Association identified new demand for 330 thousand square meters of space for companies of foreign origin, mainly from sectors such as auto parts, metal-mechanical manufacturing, furniture and the textile industry.

It is estimated that more than 90% of the operations related to the relocation of companies have been installed in the North of the country, especially in the state of Nuevo León.

In this sense, Iván Rivas, state Secretary of Economy, highlighted that the entity has more than 150 industrial parks, making it "the most attractive Mexican state for the industry."

On the other hand, Argüelles added that the industrial real estate sector has had a resilient behavior, especially when considering that 2021 was an excellent year for the market, a trend that is estimated to continue for 2022.

Seeking to address the main challenges of the sector, AMPIP announced that the Mexican Standard for Industrial Parks has been updated to integrate security, sustainability and infrastructure criteria necessary to boost competitiveness.

Additionally, new synergies were announced with the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) and the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Studies (TEC de Monterrey) to carry out joint activities that help develop infrastructure at the national level together with the promotion in the specialization of human capital.
